Concerns over Tampere 3 plans

Students and researchers at the University of Tampere have held a demonstration outlining objections to the management structure of the forthcoming Tampere 3 university.

The University of Tampere, Tampere University of Technology and the Tampere University of Applied Sciences are to be combined into a single institution called Tampere 3 by 2018. The aim is to create an internationally renowned, multidisciplinary institution that combines basic research with technology development, the universities have said. The documents establishing the foundation university are expected to be signed on 2 December.

However, students and staff member held a demonstration on 9 November raising concern over the way in which the new institution will be managed.
