The Emil Aaltonen Foundation has donated €1 million towards research at the soon-to-be-established university in Tampere.
The money should be spent on “new types of research projects that creatively emphasise the multidisciplinary nature of the university,” said Olavi Nevanlinna, chairman of the board at the foundation, in a statement on 15 September.
The first call should be timed so that projects can kick off when the university opens in 2019, the statement said. Calls will be launched in three consecutive years, and each project should last three years.
