Council seeks alternative way to boost gender equality

The Norwegian Research Council is looking for an alternative solution after the government’s state budget for 2012 failed to fund a programme aimed at addressing gender inequality in academia, reports ForskerForum.

“We can count on not getting funding for the gender equality programme that we had wanted,” said Anders Hanneborg, a division director at the council, about the future of the Gender Equality in Top Positions and Research Leaders (BALANSE) project.
