Norwegian development research biased, survey finds

An evaluation commissioned by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) has found that much of Norwegian development research is not sufficiently independent, the Norwegian Research Council (Norges Forskninsgsråd) announced on 8 September.

The evaluation, conducted by Swedish consultancy firm SIPU International, makes a number of recommendations aimed at improving the situation. These include providing more funds through the Norwegian Research Council and reducing the number of contract research projects undertaken in the field.
