Fish fund splashes cash on salmon science

The Fishery and Aquaculture Industry Research Fund in Norway announced on the 26 January that it has earmarked 17 million kroner (€2.2.m) for six research and development projects focused on labeling and tracing captive salmon that have escaped captivity.

The studies include research to develop technology to differentiate between wild salmon and reared fish, and to map the genes of the fish in order to trace them back to their owners.
