Nowegian government funding must be better streamlined to boost innovation spending from industry, ministers have said during a debate hosted by the Research Council of Norway, the Forksningsrådet.
At present, Norway spends 3 per cent of its GDP on research, of which 1 per cent is coming from the public sector. “But we have to have more spending from the private sector,” said Trond Giske, Norway’s labour minister, at the event.
Giske called for specific goals to achieve in innovation spending in the country. “This is how we can put research on the political agenda,” he said.
