Norway’s research council Forskningsrådet has encouraged its researchers to seek more funding from the United States.
Forskningsrådet made the announcement on 30 October in conjunction with the Transatlantic Science Week event held in Toronto on October 26-29. More opportunities for collaboration can be found in health research, the council said, as Norway’s biobanks have received a significant amount of funding from the US National Institute of Health.
Researchers from the United States and Canada are co-authors of about 30 per cent of Norwegian scientific publications produced in collaboration with international researchers. However, this figure could be significantly increased, according to Forskningsrådet.
