Publication output grows

Publication output has grown in all Nordic countries but has grown fastest in Norway and Iceland, according to a report by the Nordic research funder Nordforsk.

The report, Comparing Research at Nordic Universities using Bibliometric Indicators, compares research at Nordic universities through quantitative indicators from 2000 to 2012.

Publication volumes have increased in all the Nordic countries during this period. Denmark’s publication volume increased by 59 per cent, whereas Finland’s increased by 37 per cent, Iceland’s by 99 per cent, Norway’s by 67 per cent and Sweden’s by 34 per cent. Sweden, the largest country in the Nordic region, also has the greatest publication activity among the Nordic countries, with its universities publishing 40 per cent of all output.
