The Norwegian government is to produce a white paper on the quality of humanities research and education, it has announced.
In a statement published on 11 December, the government said that the paper would look at whether the quality of Norway’s humanities research is high enough internationally. It will also examine whether humanities research is sufficiently relevant to society, the government said.
“The government’s aim is that researchers and humanities graduates will contribute more to Norway’s efforts to meet major societal challenges, such as diversity, health, welfare, climate and environment,” it said in the statement.
