Norway’s left-wing liberal party, Venstre, has called for a 1 billion Norwegian kroner (€100m) increase in the research budget, to be spent solely on renewable energy R&D.
According to an article by the Norwegian research news site Forskerforum, the plan was presented at the Venstre’s party congress from 10 to 12 April in Tromsø. In its Venstres vei til grønn vekst document, the party calls for an additional kr1bn of funding in 2016 to increase the country’s public research funding to 1 per cent of GDP.
“Venstre believes that the entire increase should be earmarked for an R&D strategy for developing future green industries,” the document states.
