Government funding for health and welfare studies has grown significantly in recent years, according to the Nordic Institute for Studies in Innovation, Research and Education (Nifu).
In a report published on 22 April, Nifu said there has been a 250 million Norwegian kroner (€29m) increase in health and welfare research funding between 2011 and 2013, amounting to a 6 per cent rise. There has also been an increase in the number of academic articles published, Nifu said.
Norway’s research council Forskningsrådet commissioned Nifu to conduct surveys on health and welfare research in 2011 and 2013.
