Molde University College in western Norway will face “significant challenges” if it goes on as an independent institution, an assessment has concluded.
The assessment, which was carried out by the Nordic Institute for Studies in Innovation, Research and Education (Nifu) and published on 15 November, aimed to outline the opportunities and challenges for Molde, both as an independent institution and if it decides to merge with another institution in the future.
It found that the biggest challenge for the institution as an independent entity would be its ability to offer two PhD courses, in line with the Norwegian government’s new accreditation requirements.
