The Norwegian Association of Researchers has raised concern over the government’s intention to implement so-called “efficiency cuts” for public institutions for the third year running.
In a statement on 5 December, Petter Aaslestad, head of the association, said that the cuts, amounting to 0.5 per cent, risked weakening the quality of research and higher education.
The cuts mean that basic funding for universities and university colleges will be reduced by 251 million Norwegian kroner (€28m), according to the association.
