Norway and Portugal have signed a €38-million agreement to cooperate on marine R&D, industry development, education and climate change mitigation.
A total of €103m has been allocated to six programmes and funds, out of which €38m will go to a programme on marine innovation and research among small and medium-sized businesses, according to a statement on 22 May.
The funds are part of the EEA and Norway Grants agreement, which aims to reduce social and economic disparities in Europe and strengthen cooperation between European countries. It is funded by the governments of Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein, and has a budget of €2.8 billion between 2014 and 2020.
