A merger of five research institutes in southwestern Norway is under way in order to boost local innovation and competitiveness.
The yet-unnamed organisation will consist of Uni Research, a multidisciplinary research institute; Christian Michelsen Research, which focuses on industrial development; Iris, an applied research foundation in technical, natural and social sciences; Agderforskning, which conducts social sciences research; and Teknova, a technology-based industrial research institute. It will be headquartered in Bergen.
The five institutes have a combined turnover of 1.06 billion Norwegian kroner (€115 million) and employ more than 900 people.
