Norway’s research ministry has launched a call for nominations to sit on the executive board of the national research council, in an effort to improve the board selection process.

A new executive board will be appointed to oversee the management of the Research Council of Norway in the new year. The ministry of education and research said in a statement on 1 October that the appointment process had been changed to make it more open and accessible.

“Being on the board of the research council is one of the most important directorships we have. It is absolutely crucial that we manage to find the best candidates. Therefore, we are now going for full transparency,” said science and higher education minister Iselin Nybø. “This means that anyone can nominate board candidates.”
