Daul elected president of EPP

French MEP Joseph Daul has been elected president of the conservative European People’s Party.

Daul, who previously chaired the EPP group in the European Parliament, was elected with 112 of a possible 124 votes on 12 November.

He succeeds Wilfried Martens, who has been president since 1992.
