NGOs walk out of climate talks

Environment groups have staged a walkout at the United Nations' climate conference in protest against what they see as low-ambition negotiations captured by corporate interests.

According to the Guardian newspaper, the walkout included 800 delegates from major groups such as WWF, Greenpeace, Oxfam and Friends of the Earth Europe.

“The Warsaw Conference has put the interests of dirty energy industries over that of global citizens,” Oxfam International wrote in a statement on 21 November, slamming “corporate sponsorship from big polluters plastered all over the venue” and the overt support to the coal industry from Poland, the host country.
