Greek presidency to prioritise innovation investment legislation

Greece plans to complete Europe’s Innovation Investment Package legislation as quickly as possible during its six-month presidency of the Council of Ministers.

Greece took over the presidency from Lithuania on 1 January, just as Horizon 2020 was launched across Europe, and it has said that ensuring proper implementation of the next framework programme will be another focus.

However, Greece will have to complete most of its legislative priorities in the first half of its presidency, before European Parliament elections in May. According to an article published in New Europe on 2 January, a high-level Greek official said the presidency would be “short” because of the elections.
