Commission to increase TTIP transparency

The European Commission has said it will publish a higher number of documents about the negotiations for the agreement of free trade between the EU and the United States.

In a statement released on 25 November, the Commission said that this decision has been taken to increase the trust of the citizens on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, aimed at creating the biggest free trade area of the world.

From 1 December, all the commissioners, their cabinets and the directors-generals should publish the details of their meetings with their US counterparts within two weeks, the Commission said. The details that will be published include the dates, locations, names of the organisations and participants in meetings, as well as the topics discussed.
