Latvian presidency names priorities

The European Research Area and the Science 2.0 debate will be the research priorities of the Latvian presidency of the EU for the first half of next year, Latvia's government has said.

Latvia will host the rotatory presidency of the EU during the first half of 2015. On 3 December Latvia’s prime minister Laimdota Straujuma, discussed her priorities with the president of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker.

According to a Latvian government spokeswoman, in the area of science and research Straujuma’s priorities will be making progress towards the European Research Area and improving its governance.
