Jean-Claude Juncker has officially handed in his bid to be the next European Commission president, EurActiv reports.
According to the article, the European People’s Party announced the former Luxembourg prime minister’s candidacy on 27 February.
Although Juncker has the backing of German chancellor Angela Merkel, the EPP is yet to officially name its lead candidate, with French commissioner Michel Barnier also expected to seek backing from the party.
