The Chinese government wants more research cooperation with the EU to help the regions adapt to climate change and introduce clean technologies, according to a policy paper.
In the paper, published on 2 April by the Chinese ministry of foreign affairs, China calls for joint research on reducing energy consumption and emissions. The country also wants to increase the use of clean technology to deal with the impacts of climate change. This includes upping national renewable energy capacities, as well as research on digital distribution of information, nanotechnology and health.
China would also like to see more “exchanges and dialogue” on climate policies with the EU, the paper stated.
