The Party of European Socialists group in the European Parliament has launched a “10 point plan for change” campaign for Europe, which includes promoting innovation on the continent.
In this plan the PES group supports the Lisbon goal of spending at least 3 per cent of GDP on R&D, and says that research standards in Europe should be raised. The plan, which aims to create more jobs, set out strategies to reduce the time it takes to start a business, and to cut red tape for entrepreneurs applying for patents.
The plan also calls for the implementation of regional specialisation strategies that would encourage companies, universities and governments work together more.
