The Council of Ministers has confirmed that four countries in the Middle East and North Africa are to become members of the Prima water and food partnership.
Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt and Algeria are set to join the Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area, an initiative aimed to improve sustainable water management and food. Prima is set to run for 10 years, starting in 2018, and has a budget of €473 million.
By joining the agreement, the four countries will have an equal footing with member states and associated countries of Horizon 2020 to collaborate in scientific research. The partnership will enter into force once all parties have signed the agreement.
