Kyriakides’s performance before the European Parliament has been broadly praised
Stella Kyriakides, the Cypriot former clinical psychologist nominated to become the EU’s next health commissioner, looks set to secure the role after a solid performance in her European Parliament hearing on 2 October.
Kyriakides faced questions on how she would help the European Commission fight cancer, monitor pesticides and hormonal pollution and ensure the wellbeing of Europe’s bees. She was challenged to do more on health technological assessment laws and the availability of cancer treatments if she becomes commissioner.
