Goulard to face further questions about commissioner role for industry, digitisation, space and defence research
Sylvie Goulard, the French politician nominated to become the EU’s internal market commissioner with responsibility for industry, digitisation, defence and space research, is to face a second hearing for the role on 10 October.
Goulard failed to convince MEPs of her suitability in her first hearing on 2 October or through her answers to a second round of written questions they subsequently put to her. Those questions asked for more detail on her plans for her portfolio, as well as on two controversies: payments made to one of her assistants when she was herself an MEP, and her consultancy work for a think tank in the United States.
