European Parliament declares climate emergency

But parties mixed in their support, as some lament ‘fake debate’

A climate and environmental emergency is afflicting Europe and the rest of the world, MEPs have declared.

In a resolution passed in a plenary vote of the European Parliament on 28 November, MEPs called on the European Commission to “ensure that all relevant legislative and budgetary proposals are fully aligned” with the headline objective of the 2015 Paris agreement on climate change.
