Thierry Breton’s corporate past in the spotlight of vetting that felled predecessor

An extensive corporate background looks set to be both a strength and a potential Achilles’ heel for the latest person nominated to become the EU’s next industry commissioner.

Questions are already being asked about Thierry Breton’s (pictured) time as the head of IT services company Atos, a post he left after 11 years in October when France’s president Emmanuel Macron nominated him for the EU role.
