Council reaches ‘agreement’ on climate neutrality goal

The European Council has agreed to a plan to make the EU “climate neutral” by 2050, despite the fact that Poland did not sign up to the pact.

The Council now has until June 2020 to convince Poland that new EU financial instruments, two of which are due to be formally proposed in legislation in January, will offer enough support for its coal-dependent regional economies.
