Policymakers to get knowledge hub for food security

An EU-backed initiative to coordinate national research into food security and climate change is planning to set up a science-for-policy unit to help policymakers put the research to good use.

The Joint Programming Initiative on Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change announced the plans in a statement on 8 July. It said the hub would help its 24 member countries—most of them EU member states—to work out ways to adapt their farming practices to climate change.

The hub will collect national policy questions and priorities for food and agriculture, and will put together scenarios to help policymakers reach their targets, the JPI said.
