
Adina-Ioana Vălean, a Romanian MEP who has been a member of the European Parliament’s Committee on Industry, Research and Energy since 2007, has been elected committee chair.
Vălean, who sits in the European People’s Party group as a member of Romania’s National Liberal Party, was elected to lead the committee in a vote on 10 July. The only candidate, she was nominated by fellow EPP member Christian Ehler.
Vălean has served as an MEP since Romania joined the EU in 2007. She was chair of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety in the previous Parliament term from 2017 to 2019.
