EU reaches agreement on space and health programmes

Deals include money for medical data-sharing system and improvement of EU satellite programmes

Negotiators for the European Parliament and Council of the EU have provisionally agreed plans for setting up new EU programmes on space and health for 2021-27, with budgets of €14.8 billion and €5.1bn respectively in current prices.

The EU4Health programme is part of the bloc’s response to Covid-19 and aims to build up the EU’s national health systems and strengthen cooperation between them, including by supporting innovation stemming from biomedical research.
