European Parliament backs research ties with UK

MEPs want continued R&D partnership, as long as UK ‘plays by the rules’

The European Parliament has stressed the importance of UK participation in EU research and education activities—including its Horizon R&D and Erasmus+ education mobility programmes—within future relations between the country and the bloc.

A resolution adopted on 12 February also signalled the importance of the European Research Council funder, the Copernicus Earth-observation programme, the Galileo satellite navigation programme, European Research Infrastructure Consortia and public-private joint technology initiatives supporting R&D in areas such as aviation.
