European and US research leaders make joint climate pledge

Leaders of 25 research organisations promise greater collaboration and knowledge sharing

The leaders of eight European intergovernmental research organisations and 17 national research laboratories in the United States have issued a joint pledge to work together on climate change.

Representatives of EIROforum, the umbrella body for the European organisations including the nuclear physics lab Cern and the European Space Agency, and of the US labs of the US Department of Energy met by video call ahead of next week’s UN climate change meeting COP26, to discuss possible collaborations and climate strategy.
