Christian Ehler has helped to shape the legislation underpinning successive EU R&D programmes
Experienced MEP Christian Ehler has been picked to chair the European Parliament’s panel for providing science advice to the legislature and bringing together politicians and civil society to discuss developments in research.
Announcing his election on 10 March, Ehler (pictured) said the Panel for the Future of Science and Technology (Stoa) “has incredible added value due to its non-partisan nature”. He described it as “an agora for MEPs and citizens for science-based reflections and foresight”, referencing the ancient Greek spaces for public meetings.
