New EU-Africa R&D cooperation plans drawn up

   

Ministers set to approve objectives to boost public health responses and access to research infrastructures

The African Union and EU have drawn up plans for further research and innovation cooperation, including creating tools for monitoring potential public health threats and making research infrastructures more affordable.

A draft, published on 4 May, of a declaration set to be adopted at an AU-EU R&I ministerial meeting in June set out plans for short, medium and long-term joint actions in areas including public health and environmental sustainability.
