Spain to promote technology leadership and climate action as it prepares to take over Council

Autonomy and the environment will be among the four main priorities of the Council of the EU member state governments for the coming six months, the Spanish presidency of the Council has revealed.

On 1 July, Spain will take over the presidency of the Council from Sweden, giving it some scope to set EU policymaking priorities for six months. Its turn will encompass negotiations on major legislative packages, including a mid-term revision of the EU’s seven-year budget framework.
