EU plans closer research ties with Latin America and the Caribbean

Proposed agenda on relations with the regions emphasises need for work on research and innovation

The EU should strengthen its research and innovation ties with Latin America and the Caribbean, according to a draft European Commission agenda for relations between the regions.

Published on 7 June, the agenda calls for a “new era” of cooperation between the EU and LAC, saying they should work together to lead “a fair green and digital transition” and that increased cooperation on R&I is “essential” for this.
