Countries told to back quicker clinical trial processing

European patient representatives, pharmaceutical bodies and lobby groups have urged the European Council to support the establishment of a quick regulatory process within the clinical trials regulation.

In a statement published on 27 November, lobby groups called for the Council to back the competitive clinical trial approval timelines set out by the European Commission and European Parliament. The statement demands an agreement should be reached by Christmas.

The lobby groups that signed the statement are bioindustries group EuropaBio, the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations, Genetic Alliance UK and Cancer Research UK, and the Association of Clinical Research Organizations.
