Snowden to give evidence to MEPs

Edward Snowden, the US National Security Agency whistleblower, is set to testify to the European Parliament next week, as part of its inquiry into mass surveillance of EU citizens.

British Labour MEP Claude Moraes confirmed in a tweet on 12 December that the Parliament had decided earlier that day to invite Snowden to participate in the inquiry.

According to The Guardian, the European People’s Party had raised concerns about inviting Snowden for a hearing because of trade agreements with the US.
