EU institutions welcome climate deal

EU institutions have reacted to the new global climate deal adopted by the 195 countries at the UN’s climate change conference in Paris.

In the agreement, governments said they were committed to keep the increase of global average temperature to below 2°C above pre-industrial levels and to aim to limit the increase to 1.5°C.

Governments also agreed to come together every five years to set more ambitious targets and report to each other and the public on the progress made.
