Environment Committee MEPs have opposed a European Commission draft decision to raise diesel car emission limits for nitrogen oxides by up to 110%.
The draft, which also included the introduction of the Real Driving Emissions test procedure, was endorsed by member states in the Technical Committee for Motor Vehicles on 28 October.
But in a resolution voted on by the Environment Committee on 14 December MEPs said the draft “is neither explained nor justified, and would undermine the enforcement of existing EU standards”.
