Institutions forging ahead on data protection rules

EU institutions and bodies are making “steady progress” implementing data protection regulations, according to a report by the European Data Protection Supervisor, Giovanni Buttarelli.

His survey looked at the state of registers and inventories in 61 EU institutions, examining information on operations involving the processing of personal data.

Buttarelli’s report also addressed issues such as transfers to non-EU countries and how data protection officers are involved in the development of new processing operations.
