A group of businesses have written an open letter to the EU pushing for the free flow of data, which they say is essential for the continent’s competitiveness and economic prosperity.
The letter states that Europe’s digital economy, in particular businesses based on data sharing, has the potential to be worth €566 billion by 2020, a figure derived from the European Commission. However, it says that EU restrictions on data sharing and transfers between borders are stifling this growth.
