Nanomaterials safety warning ‘reflects systemic EU problems’

Europe criticised over decade-long dearth of information and inconsistent national legislation on nanomaterials safety

Europe’s laws and processes for protecting people from potentially dangerous nanomaterials still have important gaps even after a 2020 update, experts in the field have said.

Their comments came after the EU chemicals regulator warned of a dearth of information about whether widely used substances have harmful effects on reproduction and female fertility.
