Researchers in the dark on EU’s new export control law

   

Law came into force on 9 September but guidelines for researchers are still pending

An updated EU law controlling the movement of potentially dangerous technologies came into force last week, but the European Commission has still not published promised guidance for university researchers.

The recast law controlling exports of ‘dual-use’ technologies—which potentially have both harmless and harmful applications—came into force across the bloc on 9 September.
