Commission vice-president says EU bodies developing “new chapter” of legislation for generative AI

The EU is expecting to reach agreement on legislation to regulate artificial intelligence by the end of the year, having drafted a “new chapter” on the generative systems that have caught public attention.

Věra Jourová (pictured), a European Commission vice-president, provided the update at a global summit on AI safety held in the UK on 1 November. The event has already led to an agreement that countries will deepen scientific collaboration on the safety of cutting-edge AI through an international research network.
