VR test drives evaluation model

The Swedish Research Council (VR) is testing a model to evaluate different research areas that will not rely on external metrics such as citations.

In a statement published on 4 October, the council said that it had already used the model to evaluate its programme of philosophy research and has just completed a similar evaluation of a criminology research programme. The model will be used to evaluate one more area of research before a decision is taken to roll it out across the council’s other research areas.
