Social security science committee quits in protest

The science committee of Sweden’s social security office (Försäkringskassan) has quit in protest over changes to the way in which the organisation’s research grants are distributed, reports Dagens Nyheter.

The social security office in Sweden gives out grants every year for research and employs a committee of scientists to decide which researchers should be awarded the money. But the final decision is made by the organisation’s director general.
